Jim Betts has been writing Canadian Musicals since 1968. His most performed musicals include Colours In The Storm, On A Summer's Night, Stagefright, Extraordinary (The Extraordinary Life Of An Ordinary Woman), The Fabulous Kelley, Dancer • A Musical In Ten Furlongs (with Marek Norman), Jacob Two-Two Meets The Hooded Fang (with Dennis Lee & Philip Balsam), Little Women (with Nancy Early), and The Shooting Of Dan McGrew (with John Bertram). Jim was the Founding Artistic Director of Theatre Orangeville, the Guild Of Canadian Musical Theatre Writers and The Group Of Several. He has also served as the AD of Smile Theatre and ScriptLab, and started the Canadian Musical Theatre course at Sheridan College. His awards include a Dora Mavor Moore Award and two Chalmers Awards, and he is recognized as one of Canada’s leading musical theatre writers and advocates.
