Singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker performs over 100 shows of his music every year across Canada, Latin America and Europe.
He’s recorded for CBC radio’s ‘Canada Live, had a music video climb into the top 10 charts nationally and over the last 16 years has released 8 studio recordings and one live album. Critical comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson and Billy Joel. His performances have seen him live on BBC radio in the UK, on stage with symphony orchestras, in backyards & house concerts across the country as well as on festival stages. His most recent recording, Just Before Sunrise launched in May 2021, and was voted the #2 album in the “2021 Best Albums of Saskatchewan” rankings by music lovers across the province. US was the first full musical theatre score that Straker composed, and he was delighted to see it premiere at The Globe Theatre (Regina SK) in 2018. Co-written with Kelley Jo Burke (book), the work was recognized by the Playwright’s Guild of Canada as the best new musical in development in the country at their 2017 Tom Hendry Awards. Jeffery also contributed several original songs to the Toronto Fringe Festival hit musical Tiki Bikini Beach Paradise Party-a-Go-Go (2014). The production was named both “Best of Fringe” and “Patron’s Pick” and was remounted for the Next Stage Festival (2015).
